PASSION, DETERMINATION AND A FIRM EYE ON THE FUTURE
For Johan Gerber, MD at Supercare Services Group it’s not just about customer satisfaction. With over 15 000 staff Johan, through his team structures never takes his eye off the ball in ensuring his core values of trust and honesty filter through to everyone. And being aware of constant change in today’s digital world, Johan is always looking for methods to make Supercare Services even more efficient and competitive in the market.
“If we want to make a difference, we have to look at far more than a mop and a bucket today. Since coming into my role as MD I’ve spent the last 18 months digitising the business, looking at our strengths and weaknesses and finding what needs to be done. This is our strength – remaining agile and always being at the cutting edge of the cleaning and hygiene industry.”
The power of one
“With efficiencies in mind merging cleaning and hygiene has a positive impact on our business and customers today. Previously you would have a Supercare Services Group employee and a Supercare Hygiene employee on site, each with their own roles and focus, now everyone is unified and working towards the same goals having to be more accountable.
Our power
“There are so many reasons why I’m proud to be part of this company and more so during COVID-19, when in the middle of the pandemic with critical medical and food supplies, we actively made plans using our resources and staff to get the essential goods to where they were needed. This was truly integrating our services and it wasn’t for financial gain. It was just our way of paying it forward.
Pushing efficiencies
“One of the issues that appeared, particularly in the healthcare industry, was a simple thing such as keeping the soap dispensers full, during and after COVID-19, where people were encouraged to wash their hands more frequently. In this setting, both patients, staff and visitors are constantly using the dispensers and making sure these are replenished timeously was a new challenge. Our new method gives you a ‘never out’ system where, when your consumable is out, a back-up reservoir tank linked to a dashboard shows exactly which dispenser is empty, so we can act and arrange a refill immediately. It’s systems like this, where we have exclusive South African rights, that gives us the competitive edge in the industry.”
The heart of the business
“Being in a company where staff retention is part of the ethos and seeing people working their way up to managerial areas is extremely fulfilling. With around 50 years in the industry and winning many accolades over the years, it all comes down to the core of our business – the people with their passion and drive.”
